Relocation

Relocation of chipmunks is not feasible except in rescue situations.

Translocation

Release chipmunks at least 3 miles from the site of capture. Avoid this option for chipmunks in late summer, as translocation will separate the animal from its winter food cache. 

Euthanasia

Carbon dioxide is an appropriate method of euthanasia for chipmunks.

Disposal

Check your state regulations regarding disposal of carcasses.
