Serious
injuries to small and large animals and humans in or near water
areas. You don't have to be in the water to be attacked.
Injury Protection: The Florida State Department of Fish and Wildlife is advising hikers, hunters,
fishers, and golfers to take extra precautions and keep alert for alligators
while in Osceola, Polk, Brevard and Orange Counties. Residents should report alligators that are aggressive or unafraid of humans to the wildlife commission's alligator hotline, 866-392-4286 (866-FWC-GATOR)
Alligators are most dangerous during mating periods (Spring) and during droughts as they tend to move greater distances during these times, increasing the chances of human contact.
