Crowned Sparrow Control

Damage

eat newly sown grass, garden and flower seeds and seedlings to 4 inch height.

Control Methods

Habitat Modification

  • Change Field crops: Eliminate weedy borders and unnecessary shrubs at field perimeters.
  • Netting
  • Spikes
  • Electric ledge products

Frightening Devices

Propane exploders, pyrotechnics, kites mesh fences; Avitrol® frightener; box traps R Repellent Taste: capsaicin in granular formulations may be registered. Sound: pyrotechnics, propane exploders

Sight: raptor-like kites flown above field crops

Frightening Agent Sprouting crops: Avitrol with fine chick scratch feeds as pre bait.

 

 

Trapping

Trap 3 ft x 3 ft Lily Pad or Clover Leaf style cage traps, baited with milo or fine, cracked corn and use live decoy birds. Also, modified Australian crow trap.
