Relocation
Relocation is not recommended unless the woodchuck is being rescued.
Translocation
Translocation is not recommended unless the woodchuck is being rescued.
Euthanasia
Small-caliber firearms (.17 or .22) are the first choice for many operators where shooting is allowed and after safety concerns are addressed. The shot should be from close range and directed to the head. Operators often opt to use “low” power ammunition such as .22 -caliber “CB cap” or “Short” rounds. Follow all instructions for firearm safety at all times. Woodchucks also can be euthanized by carbon dioxide gas.
Disposal
Check your state regulations regarding disposal of carcasses.
