Using Hole Sizes to ID the Animal Entering a Structure

Hole sizes only tell us what animals could NOT enter the  building as a raccoon sized hole can be used by a squirrel.

Hole Sizes Rules of thumb

Size of a pencil width think- 3/8"

Mouse and bat

Pencil thickness

Size of a quarter think—

1” rat, chipmunk, flying squirrel, bat

 More thorough Inspection

Size of baseball think—

tree squirrel 1˝”-3”

More thorough Inspection

Size of grapefruit think—

Raccoon 4”+

More thorough Inspection
